Background About…

 

Susannah Baron is a freelance Lighting Designer and stage electrician based in New York City.

She is a 2014 alumna of Syracuse University's BFA Theatre Design / Technology program. Susannah benefited from a conservatory style program at a top college drama department, with a concentration in lighting design. She was afforded numerous design opportunities in dramatic and musical productions through SU Drama and its integrated relationship with a premier regional professional theatre – Syracuse Stage. Study abroad in Italy widened her artistic background. On graduation she received the Arthur Storch Award for excellence in design and technical theatre.

Her recent lighting credits include – Off-Broadway: “The Black Book”, “You, Me & That Guy” (The Araca Project). Regional: “Business of Murder”, “Lost in Yonkers” (Winnipesaukee Playhouse). Edinburgh Fringe Festival: “To Chekov With Love”, “All Through the Night”. SU Drama: “Spring Awakening”, “Translations”, “'Tis Pity She's a Whore”. NYC arts: “Birds of Paradise” (FringeNYC℠), “Henry V”, “The Assistant”. She enjoys being involved in a collaborative design process with other creative professionals.

In additon to design projects, Susannah works on the lighting crew for Sleep No MoreNYC at The McKittrick Hotel. This involves live concert design and lighting for events in McKittrick Hotel performance venues, as well as electrics for the six-floor warehouse that comprises the immersive experience of Sleep No More. She spends free time in creative pursuits of photography and music, as well as finding inspiration in nature and adventures outdoors.
